Ligota Górna, Strzelce County

Ligota Gorna ( German: Upper Ellguth ) is a town in Poland in Upper Silesia in the community Strzelce ( United Strehlitz ) in the powiat Strzelecki in the Opole Voivodeship.

Geographical Location

Ligota Gorna located 10 kilometers west of the seat of the municipality and the county town of Strzelce and 26 kilometers southeast of the Opole voivodship.

Neighboring towns of Gorna Ligota in the West Ligota Dolna (low Ellguth ), in the north Niwki ( Niewke ) and to the east Wyssoka ( Wysoka ).

History

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 voted 68 voters to remain in Germany and 23 for Poland. Upper Ellguth remained with the German Reich. 1933 lived 179 inhabitants in the village. 1939, the place had 166 inhabitants. By 1945, the place was in the district of Great Strehlitz.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Ligota Gorna and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place to re-founded powiat Strzelecki.
