Lindesnes is a commune in the province of Vest- Agder in Norway. The municipality has about 90 kilometers of coastline. Lindesnes is at about the same latitude as northern Scotland.

Lindesnes created in 1964 by the merger of the previously independent municipalities Spangereid, Vigmostad and Sør- Audnedal. The largest city in Lindesnes is Vigeland, which simultaneously is the local political center with about 1,200 inhabitants.

The municipality is known primarily for the Cape Lindesnes, the southernmost mainland point in Norway ( the southernmost point of Norway is the small, uninhabited island " Litleodd " (57 ° 57 '35 " N, 7 ° 34' 05 " E ) southwest of Mandal and south of Tredge ). To the North Cape are the Cape Lindesnes 1682 km in a straight line. There is fyr also the southernmost sandy beach in Norway and the Lindesnes, the oldest lighthouse in the country (built in 1655). The present lighthouse dates from 1915. In the immediate vicinity of the lighthouse there are numerous well-preserved bunkers from the Second World War, most of which are freely accessible. Another attraction is the Gallery of the sculptor Gustav Vigeland. In the area around Lindesnes outdoor activities such as fishing, rafting or participating in a moose safari are intersting for tourists.
