List of Saint Petersburg Metro stations

This list of the Saint Petersburg Metro stations includes all metro stations of the Metro St Petersburg, which are in operation. As of December 2012, there is a metro network of St. Petersburg of five lines with a total of 67 stations. [Note 1] There is also a disused station, more are under construction or in planning.

With the opening of the section Ploshchad Vosstania - Awtowo on 15 November 1955, the subway became part of the public transport system is the second largest city in Russia. The list also includes the only disused station, Datschnoje (Metro St Petersburg ), the railway tracks are now used as a vehicle depot. This station is highlighted with gray shading.

Extension

The expansion of the Metro network will create new lines and new stations. Several stations are at various stages of completion. The plans to expand the subway system had been overhauled several times because there were delays over again mainly because of lack of money.

After opening of the station Admiralteiskaja end of 2011 by a further station of Line 5, a transition to line 3 are prepared. The work for this transfer station have not yet begun (as of August 2011).

Comments

  • Dewjatkino was previously called Komsomolskaya ( Комсомольская ) to a nearby place, which was also renamed. Komsomol was the name of the youth organization of the Communist Party.
  • Novocherkasskaya was previously Krasnogwardeiskaja ( Красногвардейская ) corresponding to a nearby road. This was called in honor of the Red Army, which had a barracks in the street.
  • Sennaja Ploshchad follows in the naming also a nearby course. This and the station were called in Soviet times Ploshchad Mira ( Площадь Мира, German: "place of peace ").
