Loučeň

Loučeň ( German Lautschin ) is a Městys in the district of Nymburk in the Czech Republic. It is located 11 km north of Nymburk and belongs to the region Středočeský kraj.

History

Loučeň was first mentioned in 1223, as a Preslav z Loučné occurred on a deed of gift of the Bishop of Prague Pilgrim as a witness. In the 14th century it was probably split up, because the right of patronage of the local parish church belonged to several Vladiken. 1376 Zdeněk z Nadslavě na Kopidlně was the sole owner of the village; since Loučeň was conducted as a closed estate. It belonged to local lords, at the beginning of the 16th century the Lords of Ronov, from 1612 to Berka of Dubé and from 1623 Adam von Waldstein and his descendants. Loučeň formed from the 17th century, together with the adjacent town Dobrovice a great reign, the last owner of the family Waldstein, Maria Theresa, the inherited estate in 1756 to his son Charles Egon von Furstenberg. 1809 Loučeň finally came into the possession of Thurn and Taxis, who held it until 1945. In 1899, a narrow gauge railway beets, led by Mečíř to the sugar factory Vlkava.

The status of a Městys Loučeň was awarded in 1906 and then again on 10 October 2006.

Attractions

Instead of the 1571 first mentioned the manor was Ernst von Waldstein of Franz Maximilian Kanka 1704-1713 built a baroque castle. It has three wings and is one storey; the Church of the Assumption into heaven is based on the left wing. From 1828 on, was built around the castle building around an English landscape park.

After nationalization in 1949 the castle served as a training center and boarding. The demand of the Thurn und Taxis family Restitutionstatus in the 1990s was rejected. New owner since 2000, the corporation Loučeň as Since July 7, 2007 is the externally restored castle again publicly. The original interior was completely removed or destroyed after 1945. The new exhibition features a collection of furniture and furnishings that are to the appearance of the castle in the early 20th century, at the time of the last owners Alexander and Marie von Thurn und Taxis, imitate. In the park several mazes have been created. The former administration building was converted into a hotel.

The church building is owned by the Roman Catholic Church. In contrast to the castle, the interior of the church has been preserved and has not been restored.
