M52 highway (Russia)

The R256 Tschuiski tract (Russian Чуйский тракт, Tschuiski tract; " Tschujatrakt ") is a highway in southwestern Siberia in Russia. It leads from the metropolis of Novosibirsk south across Barnaul to Gorno- Altaisk and then to the southeast by the Altai Mountains by Taschanta on the Mongolian border.

The name refers to the Tschujatrakt chuya, a tributary of the Katun, Altai crosses the estuary of the above Inja in the valley the road. Tract is the traditional Russian name for remote or original post roads.

The road was renumbered R256 in 2010. Previously, she had the number M52, which can be used until 31 December 2017 as an alternative.
