Mae Tha District, Lampang

Amphoe Mae Tha ( Thai อำเภอ แม่ทะ ) is a district ( Amphoe ) in the eastern part of the province of Lampang. The Lampang Province is located in the northern region of Thailand.

Geography

Neighboring districts are (from the south clockwise): Amphoe Sop the Prap, Ko Kha, Mueang Lampang and Mae Mo the province of Lampang, as well as Long and Wang Chin Phrae province.

History

Mae Tha is archaeologically interesting by the discovery of machined river pebbles - pieces which have an age of about 700,000 years. Bones of Homo erectus from this period, however, were not yet discovered.

Management

The circle is divided into ten subdistricts (tambon ), which are divided further into 90 villages ( Muban ).

Pathon Nat Rua is a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district. It consists of the Tambon Pa Tan and parts of the tambon Na Khrua.

In addition, there are nine " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
