Marco Amelia ( born April 2, 1982 in Frascati (RM ), Italy) is an Italian football player, he plays in the position of goalkeeper and is at AC Milan since 2011 under contract.

Amelia belonged to the squad of the Italian national team, which was able to celebrate winning the title at the 2006 World Cup.

Clubs

Marco Amelia began his career at AS Roma, but he came here to no use with the A-team. For the season 2001 /02 joined Amelia at that Serie C1 club AS Livorno. At the end of the first season in Livorno, the club was promoted to the B series. In his second season in Tuscany Amelia became the main goalkeeper. Thanks to his good performances he came to the fore of different Serie A clubs. Finally, lent him to the first half of the season 2003/04 to U.S. Lecce. Then Amelia was loaned to Parma, where, however, he was never used. For the season 2004 /05 Amelia returned to his former club AS Livorno, who had since been promoted to the Serie A. In Livorno Amelia was again straight away to the root keeper, and took for the past two seasons that stance.

In the season 2006/ 07 Amelia participated with Livorno in the UEFA Cup. Spectacular in its Euro Cup inserts that season was his goal he scored for a 1-1 draw for Livorno at the last minute against FK Partizan Belgrade. He is the first Italian goalkeeper who met in an international competition.

After Livorno relegated in the 2007/ 08 season, Amelia could no longer hold, so he moved to Palermo, where he signed a four year contract and Alberto Fontana replaced as number 1.

Just a year later joined Amelia in exchange for Rubinho to Genoa.

On June 22, 2010 Amelia signed a first temporary one-year loan contract with AC Milan. The association was also assured a fixed to 2.5 million euro purchase option.

National

Amelia was a regular in the Italian U- 21 team for use with this team and won the 2004 U-21 tournament and the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Athens. Thanks to its excellent performance in the dress of AS Livorno Amelia recommended in the 2005/06 season for the Italian national team. In November 2005, he celebrated his debut against the Ivory Coast when he came on in the second half for Christian Abbiati. For the Soccer World Cup 2006 Amelia was summoned as a third-choice goalkeeper behind Gianluigi Buffon and Angelo Peruzzi for the Italian World Cup squad. After the World Cup and Peruzzi's retirement from international football Amelia rose initially to -budgetary reserve goalkeeper of the Italian national team. His first international match from the start, he played in August 2006 against Croatia, which Italy lost with 0:2.

Amelia was appointed to EURO 2008 as a replacement keeper behind Buffon in the squad of the Italian national team. However, in the course of the calendar year 2009, he lost to moderate performance status as reserve goalkeeper for the Squadra Azzurra and was replaced by Federico Marchetti here. For the Italian squad for the FIFA World Cup 2010, he was not considered by coach Marcello Lippi and even found in the provisional 30 -man squad no attention.
