Maria Borelius

Maria Sigrid Astrid Borelius ( born July 6, 1960 in Taby ) is a Swedish journalist, entrepreneur, author and politician. It belongs to the Moderata samlingspartiet on, sat in the Swedish Parliament in 2006 and was for eight days in Sweden 's trade minister. She is married and has four children.

Career

Borelius studied biology, physics and mathematics at the University of Lund and then environmental journalism at New York University. After her studies she worked as a science journalist for several Swedish television and was a columnist at Dagens Industri, Svenska Dagbladet. She also wrote several popular science articles and books. As part of the IT boom in 1998, she founded an e -learning company called " K- World", which, however, had to file for bankruptcy four years later. Subsequently, she worked in her own PR company in London before she moved in summer 2006 back to Sweden in order to devote himself to politics.

Controversies

She was elected in the 2006 elections as Member of Parliament in the Reichstag and was added to his government on 6 October 2006 by Fredrik Reinfeldt to Trade Minister. Borelius admitted shortly after her appointment to have longer time employed black early 90s nanny, though she had a high income at that time. As also came out that she had transferred her summer house in Sweden on a letterbox company in Jersey, to save taxes, Fredrik Reinfeldt announced a judicial inquiry into the events, what Borelius resigned from her post as Minister for Trade on 14 October 2006. They also announced to resign from their parliamentary mandate. This makes it the minister, who was the shortest period of time recently in Sweden in office.
