Marin Dragnea

Marin Dragnea (born 1 January 1956 in Slobozia MOARA, Dâmboviţa county ) is a former Romanian football player. He played a total of 405 games in the highest Romanian league, the Divizia A, and participated in the European Football Championship 1984.

Career

Dragnea began his career at the age of 16 years at Progresul Bucharest. In 1973 he came into the squad for the first team, which at that time in the second Romanian league, the Divizia B, played. The season 1974/75 he was able to complete his team in second place behind Rapid Bucharest and missed so just the climb.

In the same year, the Romanian giants Dinamo Bucharest Dragnea took them under contract, but put him in the season 1975/76 does not, so that he had no part in the vice-championship. In order to gain match practice, he spent one season to league rivals FC Constanţa. There he rose to become a regular player and managed with the club at the end of the season in the league. He returned to Dinamo and could in the course of 1977/ 78 is also establishing itself as an integral part of the team. In the season 1980/81 he showed his goalscoring abilities when he scored nine goals for the first time. With the championship in 1982, he won his first title.

After another championship in the 1982/83 season the season 1983/84 was the most successful in Dragneas career. The third championship in a row followed by the Cup victory in 1984, the Double, which was crowned by his nomination for the European Championship in France. In Europe Champions Cup Dinamo had against defending Hamburger SV and the Soviet champions FK Dinamo Minsk previously reached the semi-finals after victories and thus achieved its best result in the club's history. There, the team was eliminated by eventual winners Liverpool. With 15 goals Dragnea reached the best batting average of his career in Divizia A.

After Dragnea in the 1984/85 season once again achieved eleven goals in the national competitions but was forced to stand behind Steaua Bucharest, could he won the Cup victory in 1986 the last time a title. In the final, Steaua was defeated 1-0, which had previously won in addition to the Romanian Cup and the European Cup.

After almost ten years and the loss of his master square Dragnea left during the winter break 1986/87 Dinamo and joined the newly promoted Flacara Moreni. Here he first found back to its former strength, as he led the club with ten goals in the 1987/88 season to sixth place. With the fourth place a year later the team got even the best finish in club history, which was associated with the qualification for the UEFA Cup. Dragnea remained with three hits to its potential.

After Moreni had to leave the only sporting relegated the Divizia A at the end of the 1989/90 season, Dragnea moved to newly promoted Rapid Bucharest, where he finished his career in 1991.

National

Dragnea played five games for the Romanian national team and remained without a goal. In the summer of 1984, coach Mircea Lucescu him nominated for the Romanian squad for the European Championship in France, although he had previously not played a single international match. In the first group game against Spain on 14 June 1984, he ran on from the start. In the second game against Germany Lucescu built on him, but left him in the final match against Portugal on the bench.

After the European Championships renounced Lucescu - apart from a friendly match against Israel in November 1984 - the services of Dragnea. In March 1986, he brought him back for two international matches against Iraq, where Dragnea acted as captain. Subsequently, he was no longer considered.
