Mark Janssens

Mark Francis Janssens ( born May 19, 1968 in Surrey, British Columbia ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who, in his playing days from 1988 to 2001 among others for the New York Rangers, Hartford Whalers, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, New York Islanders Phoenix Coyotes and Chicago Blackhawks played in the National Hockey League.

Career

Mark Janssens began his career as a hockey player with the Surrey Eagles and moved in 1984 to the Regina Pats in the Canadian junior Western Hockey League, where he was active until 1988. Janssens reached in 280 games 245 points, but also sat on 600 minutes in the penalty box. During the NHL Entry Draft in 1986, he was selected in the fourth round at a total of 72 position of the New York Rangers. After he had played an NHL game for the Rangers in the season 1987/88, he was also in the following season hardly inserts in the National Hockey League and completed 38 games in their damaligem farm team, the Denver Rangers, in the International Hockey League. As of 1989, it managed the Canadian attacker for now permanently in the master cadre of New York Rangers in the NHL. In the following two years, he completed 142 games for the Rangers, where he scored 35 points scorer. The 1991/92 season Janssens spent mostly at their farm team, the Binghamton Rangers in the American Hockey League.

In March 1992 it transferred the Rangers in exchange for Mario Thyer and a draft pick to the Minnesota North Stars. Already after only three games, the North Stars gave it off in exchange for James Black to the Hartford Whalers. For the Whalers, the Canadians could establish long-term in the root cadres. Until 1997, he ran on for Hartford, but could never reach the play -offs with the team. In March 1997 it transferred the Whalers in exchange for Bates Battaglia and a draft pick to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, where he ran aground in 78 games and scored nine points. A year later, the next change; the Ducks gave him along with Joe Sacco and JJ Daigneault from in exchange for Travis Green, Doug Houda and Tony Tuzzolino to the New York Islanders. For the Islanders, he was up to the end of the season twelve inserts, afterwards his expiring contract was not renewed and he signed as a free agent contract with the Chicago Blackhawks.

The first two seasons, he played exclusively with the Blackhawks, in June 2000, it transferred the Blackhawks to the Philadelphia Flyers. However, after a few weeks he returned to Chicago, who selected him from the waiver. When the Blackhawks the Center received only 28 applications where it remained no points. The rest of the season he spent with the Norfolk Admirals and Houston Aeros, both former farm team of the Blackhawks. Mark Janssens let his long career in the Netherlands at the Ruijters Eaters Geleen finish. After a few games in the Eredivisie, he finally ended his active career in 2001.
