James Black (ice hockey)

James Black ( born August 3, 1969 in Regina, Saskatchewan ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who is a total of 365 games in the National Hockey League completed in eleven seasons. During his career in North America, he played between 1989 and 2002 and 540 games in the American Hockey League and the International Hockey League. From 2002 until his retirement in late 2005 he was three seasons in Europe under contract.

Career

As a 18 -year-old James Black played his first season in the junior Western Hockey League for the Portland Winter Hawks. After he was taken in the NHL Entry Draft in 1989 in the fifth round and 94th overall by the Hartford Whalers point, he moved directly into the organization of the NHL franchise. However, his performance was not enough to become a regular in the NHL team. Therefore, it was used until 1996 mainly in the AHL farm team. The links Sagittarius came at this time but even at 78 NHL games for Hartford, the Minnesota North Stars, the Dallas Stars, the Buffalo Sabres and Chicago Blackhawks.

In Chicago he matured in 1996 for a regular player in the best league in the world. Up to and including the 2000/01 season he only played in five games not in the NHL, whereas 287 times for Chicago and the Washington Capitals. Only in the season 2001 /02 he was reinstated permanently in the American Hockey League, which prompted him after only one year in a move to Europe.

He hired the first to EV train in the National League A. But there he was in the 2002/03 season only 18 games contest and so he came a year later to Germany. He signed with the Iserlohn Roosters of the German Hockey League, where he scored 44 points scorer in 50 games. He finished his career in 2004 /05 with sixteen games for the HC Bolzano in the Italian Serie A.
