Marko Milič

Marko Milič ( born May 7, 1977 in Kranj, SR Slovenia) is a Slovenian basketball player. The 1.99 m wide power forward was the first Slovene in the NBA and plays in Kuwait since 2013.

Career

Milič was early discovered a great talent and encouraged. So in 1993 he became a member of the Slovenian National Team at age 16. With Olimpija Ljubljana he was three times Slovenian champion, twice in 1995 and 1997 as Double linked with winning the national cup competition. In 1997 he moved directly from Slovenia in the NBA with the Philadelphia 76ers, played there but not in any NBA game. This changed though when the Phoenix Suns, but in one and a half seasons, he only came to a total of 220 minutes of operating time. This time was interrupted by the lockout in the NBA in 1998. During this time played Milič for Fenerbahçe Istanbul in Türkiye Ligi Basketbol.

1999 returned to Union Olimpija Ljubljana Milič back, but their league title could not defend. After one season at Real Madrid, in which they lost each in the finals of the Spanish Cup and the Cup competition " Copa del Rey ", followed by five years in which Milič in Italy actively Fortitude from Bologna, in Roseto and Pesaro and for Virtus Bologna had. 2009 saw Milič in the French LNB Pro A club for Entente Orleans 45 from which he, however, already left after a few games in early December. Then Milič returned again in early 2010 in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A and played back for the upstart Vanoli from Cremona. In the following two and a half seasons, it was enough only for relegation. In early December 2012, he followed the former Slovenian coach Memi BECIROVIC to Mahram Tehran in the Iranian Super League. In March 2013, he joined the Kuwaiti Division I to al - Kuwait SC, where he will remain on the end of the season also.

Milič is one of the most consistent players in the Slovenian national team and participated in the previous six European Championships (1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005) and the 2006 World Cup in part. At the European Championships in 2007 but he missed due to injury.
