Maurice J. Tobin

Maurice Joseph Tobin ( May 22nd, 1901 in Roxbury, Massachusetts, † July 19, 1953 in Scituate, Massachusetts ) was an American politician (Democratic Party), 1948-1953 under President Harry S. Truman 6 Labour Minister of the United States and previously 1945-1947 the 56th Governor of Massachusetts.

Career

Maurice Joseph Tobin was born in 1901 in Roxbury, a suburb of Boston, and raised on. At Boston College Tobin spent several semesters studying law, but he never graduated from. Tobin various professional activities after, he briefly worked at a leather company, as well as at the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company. His political career began when he in 1927 to the House of Representatives from Massachusetts was elected. In 1937, Tobin sat against its competitors James Michael Curley through to the office as Mayor of Boston. From January 2, 1945, Tobin Governor of Massachusetts, he was almost exactly two years, until January 2, 1947. Since August 13, 1948 Tobin was among the Cabinet of Harry S. Truman, and served until January 20, 1953 as Minister of Labor of the United States.
