Michael James Lewis

Michael James Lewis ( born December 24, 1990 in Laguna Beach, California) is an American race car driver. He started in 2012 and 2013 in the European Formula 3 Championship.

Career

Lewis began his motorsport career in 2002 in Midget Cars. He stepped to 2005 in various Midget series. In 2005 he joined the karting, where he remained active until 2010. Since 2009 his main focus, however, lies in Formula racing. He made his debut in 2009 in the American Formula BMW. Starting for Euro International, he scored three podium finishes and finished at the end of the season fourth championship course, while his team-mate Gabby Chaves and Giancarlo Vilarinho First and Second were. After the closure of the American Formula BMW Lewis moved in 2010 into the European Formula BMW. While his team-mate Carlos Sainz Jr. and Daniil Kwjat achieved podium finishes, Lewis finished the season with a fifth place as best result at the 14th place overall. In addition, he graduated in 2009 and 2010 as guest in the Formula BMW Pacific.

2011 Lewis moved to the Prema Powerteam in the Italian Formula 3 Championship. With three victories this season he was the driver who won the most races. However, Lewis was defeated at the end of the season with 136 points to 149 Sergio Campana. Team Internally, Lewis sat with 13 points ahead of by Raffaele Marciello and decided beyond the rookie standings for themselves. As a reward for his services in the Italian Formula 3 Lewis was given the opportunity to attend a Formula 1 test for Ferrari in November. 2012 Lewis remained at Prema Powerteam and moved to the Formula 3 Euro Series. He was also a valuation basis in the European Formula 3 Championship. He won a race in the Formula 3 Euro Series and finished the season in eighth place. In the European Formula 3, he finished ninth in the drivers' standings. While Daniel Juncadella, one of his three teammates, in both series won the title, Lewis was in both championships on points Worst Prema driver.

2013 Lewis was initially without cockpit. For the second race weekend of the European Formula 3 Championship, he took over from Mücke Motorsport Wehrlein Pascal, who had moved to the DTM. While his team-mate Felix Rosenqvist with 457 points was second overall, Lewis reached the 19th place in the overall standings with 23 points.
