Sergio Campana (racing driver)

Sergio Campana ( born June 5, 1986 in Reggio Emilia ) is an Italian race car driver. It was 2011 Italian Formula 3 champion. 2012 and 2013 he raced in the Auto GP.

Career

Campana began his motorsport career in 2003 in karting, where he was active until 2007. In 2007, he debuted in Formula racing. He was 31 in the Italian Formula Renault. In addition, he completed guest starts in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup. 2008 Campana joined in parallel in the Italian Formula Renault and Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup. While he was fifth in the Italian series with three wins, he finished the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup at the 26th championship course. Following the season, he took part in the Winter Series of the Portuguese Formula Renault and was 15th in this series.

2009 Campana moved to Lucidi Motors in the Italian Formula 3 Championship. He won three races and finished the championship in fourth place from. Followed in 2010 Campanas second season in the Italian Formula 3 Championship for Lucidi Motors. While his team-mate Stéphane Richelmi was runner-up, Campana ended the season with three wins in fifth place overall. In 2011 he moved to BVM - Target Racing. Campana won two races and decided the championship with 149 points to 136 against Michael Lewis for themselves. As a reward for winning the title Campana graduated in November a Formula 1 test for Ferrari.

2012 Campana went to the MLR71 Racing team in the Auto GP World Series. His team boss, Michele La Rosa, was also his teammate. At the first race he came in second place to the finish. Since his team, however, had made ​​a mistake at the pit stop, he was punished with a penalty, and dropped back to tenth place. In Marrakesh he finally won the feature race. After the fifth race weekend Campana left the MLR71 Racing Team and graduated from the past events for Euro Nova Racing and Zele Racing. With two podium finishes he finished the season on top of the sixth. 2013 remained Campana in the Auto GP. He received a cockpit at Ibiza Racing team, a new team. Campana won the feature race in Monza, Mugello and Marrakech. With a total of seven podium finishes and was at the end of the season in third place overall. In addition, Campana 2013 participated in an event of the GP2 Series for Trident Racing.
