Michalis Hatzigiannis

Michalis Hatzigiannis (Greek Μιχάλης Χατζηγιάννης; born November 5, 1979 in Nicosia, Cyprus ) is a Greek Cypriot singer and composer. For non- Greek publications, he uses the name Mihalis.

Life

Youth and beginning of his career in Cyprus

Michalis Hatzgiannis is one of the most famous Greek singer. Born in Nicosia, he makes on the Cyprus Academy of Music with a degree in piano, guitar and music theory.

At 15, he attended a Songkontest in Cyprus in part, " Afetiries " in which he won first place. He started his career in Cyprus with three shots that were all platinum: " Senario ", "O Mihalis Hatzigiannis Traguda Doro Georgiadi " and " Epafi ". He also participated in a musical production in Cyprus called " Pygmalion " in part.

In 1998 he was in Cyprus in the Euro Vision Song Contest with the song " Γένεσις " ( Yenesis - Genesis). A self- composed piece, which he finished in 11th place.

Career in Greece

Later in Athens, he collaborated with the composer Yiorgos Hadjinassios and the lyrics writer Michales Bourboulis to create his new album " Άγγιγμα ψυχής " ( Angigma Psychis ), which was published in 1998. The album included songs for the homonymous TV series. The album went platinum.

In March 2000, published Hatzgiannis his first solo album " Παράξενη Γιορτή " ( Paraxeni Giorti ). Other composers and lyric writers worked with on the album. The album contained some of the biggest hits of the year 2000. The song " Μόνο Στα Όνειρα " (Mono Sta Onira ) spent several weeks at number one in all Greek radio stations. The two songs " Παράξενη Γιορτή " ( Paraxeni Giorti ) and " Και Θα Χαθώ " (Ke tha Hatho ) had similar success. The album went double platinum and was a milestone in the career of the young singer. In November of the same year he had the first live performances in Athens.

He got in early 2001 with the platinum single CD " Δεν Έχω Χρόνο " (Den Eho Hrono ). The song stayed on the charts for a long time. In 2001 he played with singer Haris Alexiou and in the summer of the same year he first went on tour in Greece.

In the spring of 2002, he released his second album, which was triple platinum. The album includes some big hits like " Είσαι Εδώ " ( Ise Edo ), " Το Σ'αγαπώ " (To S ' Agapo ), " Χωρίς Αναπνοή " ( Hori Anapnoi ), " Η Εκδρομή " (I Ekdromi ) and " Καπνός " ( Kapnos ). In the summer of that year he went a second time on tour, with even greater success. In winter, he performed with the singer Dimitra Galani.

In 2003 he released " Μόνος Μου " ( Monos Mou ), an EP with five songs, got the triple platinum. The song " Αν Μου Τηλεφωνούσες " (An Mou Tilephonouses ) became a big hit and held for months in the Greek radio. Even today it is one of the most famous ballads of Greece. In the summer of 2003 he went again on tour where he gave 63 sold-out concerts.

He held up three prizes at the official Greek Music Award in 2003 and 2004, even four, including the award for the best male performer.

In April 2004 he released his third solo recording " Ακατάλληλη Σκηνή " ( Akatalili Skini ). On April 30, he represented Cyprus at the great eastern enlargement celebrations in Warsaw. Here, the addition of ten new States was celebrated on the European Union. In 2004, he went a second time in Greece on tour and sang at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Athens. In the winter he had a hundred appearances in Athens and Thessaloniki, with the well-known singer Paschalis Terzis.

In the summer of 2005 he went a second time on tour in Greece. His last performance of this tour he was in the Lycabettus theater with two sold-out concerts. In October he traveled to Australia for the first time and had three concerts. Between November 2005 and April 2006, he appeared with Antonis Remos.

In March 2006 he released his first live album, recorded at the concert in Lycabettus theater, with three new songs, " Δε Φεύγω " ( De Fevgo ), " Δεν Είμαι Εδώ Για Κανένα " (Den ime edo gia kanena ) and " Μοιάζουμε " ( Miazoume ). All were big hits. The live album also contained a DVD with pictures from the concert and backstage. In April, he went on tour with George Dalaras in Canada and the United States. In May, he appeared in Thessaloniki with Natasa Theodoridou. In the summer he made a tour of Greece with 50 sold-out concerts. In August, he released the single " Ola i tipota " ( Ola i tipota ) which was a huge hit. In December 2006 he released his fourth album " Φίλοι και Εχθροί " ( Fili ke ehthri ) with some very successful songs like " Να Είσαι Εκεί " (Na ise eki ), " Αισθήματα " ( Esthimata ), " Χέρια Ψηλά " ( Heria psila ) and others.

In March 2007, he worked with the German rock band Reamonn and released the hit " Tonight" with the Greek text of Eleana Vrahali. The song is on the re-release of " Wish" by Reamonn and " και Φίλοι Εχθροί " ( Fili ke ehthri ) by Michalis Hatzigiannis

In June, he released the single " Πιο Πολύ " ( Pio poly) with four songs: the new song " Pio poly", a remix of " Pio poly", the duet " Tonight" with Reamonn and a " Moscow Electro Remix" of " Heria psila ". He also started his summer tour in Greece, after his appearances in Vox ending in May.

International career

Due to its ever-growing international fan base he made in October and November 2007, a European tour through Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Belgium. Mid-2009, Hatzigiannis released his first single in English ( "More Than Beautiful" ) on Universal Music Group under the name " Mihalis ". A video clip for the song was filmed in Berlin. On June 30, 2010 was published in Germany his single " Everyone Dance", the English version of his Greek hit " Cheria Psila ". The English lyrics were written by Rea Garvey of Reamonn. The publication of an English studio album titled " Mihalis " is announced for August 13, 2010. With its Singler Everyone Dance he rose mid-August 2010 at number 96 in the German single charts, but was able to hold only a week on the charts.
