Despina Olympiou

Despina Olympiou (Greek: Δέσποινα Ολυμπίου; born October 17, 1975 in Limassol ) is a Cypriot singer.

Life and career

She studied piano and music theory at Trinity College London. In 1993 she moved to Athens and sang for recordings and live performances of various musicians. In 2000 they released their debut album. The Ballad Vale Mousiki, written by Michalis Hatzigiannis was a great success in 2003. Hatzigiannis was her as a composer and still wrote other pieces for them. The Cyprus Broadcasting CyBC chose Olympiou internal to the representative of Cyprus to the Euro Vision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö. As a title, the Greek-speaking ballad was selected to Me Thimase.
