Million Wolde

Million Wolde ( Millon Wolde also; born March 17, 1979 in Addis Ababa ) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner and Olympic champion.

At age seventeen Wolde took part in the Junior World Championships in 1996 in Sydney and was sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. A year later he was in Annecy Junior World Champion in the 5000 -meter run. At the Junior World Championships in cross-country running, he finished eighth in 1996 in Cape Town, 1997 in Turin, the second and 1998 in Marrakech the first place. He moved permanently into the limelight when he at the World Indoor Championships in Maebashi the bronze medal in the 3000 - meter race won beginning in 1999 and was at the World Cross Country Championships in Belfast fourth in the sprint. Woldes career reached its peak in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, when he was only 22 years old. In the 5000 - meter race nobody wanted to really take the lead and tackle a fast pace. At the World Athletics Championships 2001 in Edmonton Wolde won the silver medal in 13:03,47 min over 5000 meters. Since then, he could not reach his usual level of performance because of various injuries.
