Minas Department, Neuquén

The Departamento Minas is located in the northwest of the province of Neuquen in southern Argentina and is one of 16 administrative units in the province.

It is bordered to the north and west by Chile, to the east by the department of Chos Malal and on the south by the Departamento Ñorquín.

The capital of the department of Minas is Andacollo.

Population

According to estimates by the INDEC, the population grew from 7,072 inhabitants (2001) to 7,912 inhabitants in 2005.

Cities and Towns

The Departamento Minas divided into a municipality of the second category ( Andacollo ), three municipalities third category ( Huinganco, Las Ovejas, Los Miches ), the Comisiones de Fomento guanacos, Manzano Amargo, Varvarco / Invernada Vieja and Villa del Nahueve. Other settlements on the territory of the department are Aguas Calientes, Bella Vista, Los Carrizos, Pichi Neuquén and Las Lagunas.
