Mocomoco Municipality

The municipality Mocomoco is a district in the department of La Paz in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

The municipality Mocomoco is one of three Municipalities of the province of Heliodorus Camacho and is located in the northeastern part of the province. It is bordered on the northwest by the Republic of Peru, to the west by the municipality of Puerto Acosta, on the south by the municipality of Puerto Carabuco, on the east by the province Muñecas, and to the north by the province of Bautista Saavedra.

The municipality has 127 localities ( Localidades ), the central location of the municipality is Mocomoco with 439 inhabitants in the central part of the municipality.

Geography

The municipality Mocomoco located on the Bolivian Altiplano at an average altitude of 3500 m, on the western edge of the Cordillera Real. The climate of the region is a typical diurnal climate where the temperature variations during the day be more pronounced as the year progresses.

The mean average temperature of the municipality lies at just 14 ° C (see climate chart ), the monthly average temperatures vary only slightly between 11 ° C in June / July and 15 ° C from October to March. The annual precipitation is about 750 mm, the monthly rainfall range from less than 20 mm from July to August and at 100-150 mm from December to March.

The municipality had at the last census in 2001 a population density of 26.7 inhabitants / km ². The life expectancy of newborns in 2001 was 60.7 years, the infant mortality rate of 6.7 per cent ( 1992) rose slightly to 7.0 percent in 2001.

The literacy rate for those over 15 years is 69.7 percent, and 82.2 percent, although in men and 57.0 percent for women ( 2001).

36.0 percent of the population speak Spanish, 97.0 percent speak Aymara, Quechua and 0.3 percent. (2001)

98.6 percent of the population have no access to electricity, 74.6 percent have no sanitary facilities ( 2001).

45.0 percent of households have a radio, a television 0.4 percent, 8.8 percent, a bicycle, a motorcycle 0.2 percent, 0.3 percent a car, 0.1 percent a refrigerator, 0.1 percent phone. (2001)
