Mowag Piranha

The name piranha describes a developed in the 1970s by wheeled armored vehicle concept of the Swiss company Mowag (now General Dynamics European Land Systems - Mowag GmbH). They were in versions 4 × 4, 6 × 6, 8 × 8 and 10 × 10 built, including with various equipment options such as an amphibious version. A total of 10,000 Piranhas are currently in use worldwide. The weight varies between the standard versions 12.5 to 25 tonnes, the payload of 3 tons or 10 must still be deducted. Under the name LAV -25 with the U.S. Marine Corps, respectively, as Stryker in the U.S. Army are on the Piranha -based vehicles in the U.S. armed forces in action.
