Multi Emulator Super System
M.E.S.S. ( for Multiple Emulator Super System ) is an available since 1998 emulator system for many game consoles and computer systems.
Description
The purpose of MESS is to preserve decades of computer and console history despite the progression of technological development. MESS is based on the MAME core.
MESS emulates handheld devices and game consoles, computers and calculators. The focus of the project is (as with MAME ) for accuracy and portability and therefore it is not always the fastest emulator for a particular system.
There are currently 1668 systems, of which 632 independent emulated (as of Ver 0.145u1 of 21 February 2012.). The oldest supported system is the Small-Scale Experimental Machine from the year 1948.
For most systems, additional so-called ROM images (images) are the individual operating system files and often the storage media used at that time (eg, disk images ) are required. These are also not included due to copyright issues, as with many other emulators.
Use
2013 began the Internet Archive so abandonware classic games for the browser playable via emulation MESS offer, for example, the Atari 2600 video game E.T. the Extra -Terrestrial.
