Municipality of Logatec

Logatec ( German: Loitsch, Italian: Longatico, from Latin: Longaticum ) is a city in south-western Slovenia with 8200 inhabitants ( 2006). the total municipality has 11,343 inhabitants Logatec.

History

The transport network, location of the place between the inland and the coast played a formative role in the city over the centuries. The earliest mention of the settlement dates back to Roman times, when here the Straßenstration mansio Longatico was on the Via Gemina between Aquileia and Emona (Ljubljana), which is listed on the Tabula Peutingeriana between the stations in the ad Pirum Birnbaumer Wald and Nauportus ( Vrhnika ).

In later times Logatec lay on the road between Ljubljana and Trieste to the mid-19th century was come, a station on the railway line pitch - Strasbourg -Trieste. The so-called furmani ( from German: Fuhrmann ) were very popular here.

The present city was created from the merger of various villages: Dolenja vas ( dt: . Niederdorf), Mandrge (German: " Mandrege " ), Čevica (German: " Czech joke" ), Martinj hrib (German: " Martin Rock " ), Brod (German: " Fürten " ), Blekova vas (German: " Fleckendorf " ), Cerkovska vas (German: " Kirchdorf " ), Gorenja vas (English: "Upper village ").
