Musa Aman

Malayan Name: The name component " Aman " is a patronymic, not a family name; the person so called Musa.

Yang Amat Berhomat Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Musa bin Haji Aman SPDK, DGSM, DA ( Sarawak ), PGDK, JMN, JP ( born March 30, 1951 in Beaufort) is the 14th Prime Minister of the State of Sabah in Malaysia and the current incumbent. He followed on 27 March 2003 Chong Kah Kiat after. His appointment as prime minister marked the end of the hitherto practiced in Sabah rotation system in which the post of Chief Minister every two years among the three main ethnic groups of Sabah - Bumiputras Christian, Muslim and Chinese Bumiputras - month rolling. He is also chairman of the party United Malays National Organization ( UMNO ), Sabah.

Political career

Datuk Musa's political career began on March 8, 1992, his successful election to the regional manager of the UMNO in the constituency Jambongan (now parliamentary constituency Libaran P184 ) and the appointment as treasurer of the Barisan Nasional (BN ) in Sabah eight days later.

On March 7, 1995, one year after the BN took over the government in Sabah, Musa was Director of the Sabah Foundation ( Yayasan Sabah ), a public corporation. In March 1999, he resigned from this office to participate in the parliamentary elections of Sabah and to defend the seat of the constituency of Sungai Sibuga in the Sabah State Legislative Assembly, the Legislative Assembly of the State of Sabah. He suggested Ramli Noordin of the Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS ) with a majority of 4034 votes, the highest majority among the 24 seats to who had applied UMNO.

Prime Minister Datuk Osu Sukam appointed him in 1999 as a minister in his cabinet. Under the reign of his predecessor, Tan Sri Chong Kah Kiat In 2001 he was Minister of Finance on March 27. Musa took over on 28 September 2001 the post of Sabah UMNO Liaison Committee Chairman of Osu Sukam, which ultimately paved the way for him to the office of Prime Minister. His inauguration as Prime Minister of Sabah was held on March 4, 2003; currently running its third term of office.

In addition to his position as Prime Minister Musa also exerts the Office of Finance.

Economic policy

Shortly after taking his oath of office as Prime Minister Datuk Musa presents before his political program for Sabah. His priorities he laid on agriculture, tourism and manufacturing industries, which he wanted to support and promote particularly regarding the development of jobs. This development program is called Halatuju.

For the first pillar of his campaign Halatuju - tourism - he made 1.4 billion ringgit (then more than 300 million euros ) in state funds available. In order for the construction and modernization of the airport terminal from Kota Kinabalu was funded, which was completed early in 2008. Part of the old harbor of Kota Kinabalu, together with the associated memory houses from the early 1900s was converted to Jesselton Point, a modern port with high quality ferry terminal and other facilities. The tourism industry responded immediately with a noticeable growth; the number of incoming tourists to Sabah grew from 1.25 million in 2003 to nearly 2.1 million in 2006, growth justified a further capital injection of more than 1 billion ringgit in the tourism sector.; of which went 400 million and 700 million ringgit in smaller to larger projects.

For the second pillar of the economy project - agriculture - went Sabah new ground by associated agricultural and manufacturing industries through the promotion of organic agriculture industry. The establishment of industrial clusters palm oil ( Palm Oil Industrial Cluster, POIC ) is an example of how a higher value can be achieved in the commodity markets of agricultural products.

To the third pillar - the manufacturing industry - to support, in 2006 a total of 92 projects with a total investment of 4.9 billion ringgit were promoted.

Private life

The Islamic politicians Datin Seri is married to Hajjah Faridah binti Haji Tussin. Musa Aman has three sons and a daughter. He is the older brother of Dato ' Seri Anifah Aman, the Malaysian Foreign Minister.
