Neuchâtel Xamax

Neuchâtel Xamax FCS is a Swiss football club based in Neuchâtel (French: Neuchâtel ). The club colors are red and black.

History

The club was formally established in 1916 under the name FC Xamax, after starting from 1912, a group of football enthusiasts had organized at two places in Neuchâtel games. In 1970 he founded in 1906 merged with the city rivals FC Cantonal Neuchâtel. The palindrome " Xamax " originated from the name of co-founder Max Abegglen, called " Xam ". His most successful period was Neuchâtel in the 1980s under his longtime trainer Gilbert Gress. Xamax rose end of 2005/06 season of the Super League from the Challenge League. The team lost the barrage against the Challenge League Second FC Sion. For Xamax this defeat means the first relegation from the top Swiss league after promotion in 1973. In January 2012, the Axpo Super League club withdrew the license for the league, after Xamax displayed multiple times over unpaid salaries in the private Disciplinary Commission. On January 26, 2012 Xamax filed for bankruptcy and was relegated in the sequence in the fifth rate 2 League interregional.

On April 14, 2012 it was announced that the club was re-founded as " Neuchâtel Xamax in 1912 ." In 2013 he merged with FC SERRIERES to Neuchâtel Xamax FCS. The club was 2013 champion interregional in Group 3 of the 2nd league and thus rose to the 1st League Classic.

President and owner

  • From 2005 to the end of season 2011: Sylvio Bernasconi; the contractor from Geneveys -sur -Coffrane was also the majority shareholder. From June 2011 to July 2011 was Andrei Rudakov, Russian ex-professional footballers, including at Spartak Moscow as president in office.
  • Since that time: main shareholder was from May 2011, the Geneva-based Chechen businessman Bulat Tschagajew, son of the last Communist Party leaders of Chechnya during the Soviet period. Stadium

The home ground of Neuchâtel Xamax is the Stade de la Maladière in Neuchâtel. After the old stadium was demolished in 2004, was the first team to their " home games " temporarily in La Chaux -de-Fonds in the Stade de la Charrière from. On 18 February 2007, the new Stade de la Maladière was inaugurated in Neuchâtel. The small stadium still bears the same name ( Stade de la Maladière ).
