2010–11 Swiss Cup

The 86th Swiss Cup was held until May 29, 2011 of September 18, 2010. Defending champion was the FC Basel, which failed in the quarter- finals on unterklassigen FC Biel -Bienne. Cup winner was the FC Sion.

The mode

Ten teams of the Axpo Super League and 15 clubs in the Challenge League were directly qualified for the Swiss Cup (not eligible to play in the Challenge League was the FC Vaduz, who participated in the Liechtenstein Cup). These met with 13 clubs from the 1st League and 26 clubs from the amateur leagues. This must qualify for the Swiss Cup in regional selections.

It was played in the all-in - system. Each round had to take place within a maximum of two days under normal circumstances. The venue for the final was again Basel.

1/32-Finals ( 18, 19 and 22 September 2010): 64 teams, the winners were qualified for the 1/16-Finals.

1/16-Finals ( 15 to 17 October 2010): 32 teams, the winners were qualified for the knockout round.

Last sixteen ( 20 and 21 November 2010): 16 teams, the winners were qualified for the quarter-finals.

Quarter Finals (2 March 2010): 8 teams, the winners were qualified for the semi-finals.

Semi-finals (28 April 2011): 4 teams, the winners qualified for the final.

Final (29 May 2011): The winner won the 86th Swiss Cup.

The teams of the Axpo Super League and the Challenge League could not meet. Teams from a lower league had home advantage. The draw took place on August 20, 2010.

Second Round

The teams of the Axpo Super League could not meet. Was a team in a lower league, this was the home advantage, otherwise the erstgezogene team. The draw took place on 20 September 2010.

Last sixteen

As far as possible been avoided that teams from the Axpo Super League clashed. Was a team in a lower league, this was the home advantage, otherwise the erstgezogene team. The draw took place on October 17, 2010.

Quarter-finals

The encounters were drawn, everyone could meet everyone. The team that was drawn first, got the home advantage. The draw was held on 21 November 2010.

Semi-finals

The encounters were drawn, everyone could meet everyone. The team that was drawn first, got the home advantage. The draw took place on March 2, 2011.

Final

The final match was held at Basel's St. Jakob-Park on May 29, 2011. Even in his twelfth finals of FC Sion remained undefeated.
