New York gubernatorial election, 1834

The gubernatorial election in New York from 1834 took place between 3 and 5 November 1834, the Governor and the Vice Governor of New York, were elected.

This was the first election in which occurred the Whig party. On the Democratic side of the incumbent Governor Marcy was nominated. On the Whig side, the nomination was far less apparent, as these Amos P. Granger, Daniel C. Verplanck and others included. Ultimately, the choice fell on the very young William H. Seward. During the campaign, even the democratic press Seward accused those circumstance, the Whig examples of well-known people gave, including DeWitt Clinton, who served themselves at a young age.

William L. Marcy joined with John Tracy as his running mate, and William H. Seward with Silas M. Stilwell.
