Nick Bjugstad

Nick Bjugstad ( born July 17, 1992, Minneapolis, Minnesota ) is an American professional ice hockey player on the position of the center, which is since April 2013 in the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League contract.

Career

Nick Bjugstad began his career with the school team of Blaine High School, where he was on the ice for three seasons. In his final high school season 2009/10, the Center scored 60 points scorer in 25 games and then won the annual award as Minnesota Mr. Hockey, which honors the best high school player of the U.S. state of Minnesota. In the NHL Entry Draft in 2010, he was selected in the first round to 19th position from the Florida Panthers.

Then moved to the University of Minnesota Bjugstad and played for the hockey team of the University in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. In his second season he succeeded with 42 points from 40 games, the breakthrough and he was called to the First All -Star Team of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. The following season, he was again with 21 goals among the top ten scorers in the league and received an appointment to the Third All-Star Team of the WCHA.

After the season in the NCAA Bjugstad signed on April 3, 2013 an initial three-year contract with the Florida Panthers and played just three days later his NHL debut for the team. In last season's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning scored the first goal of his professional career.

Internationally

Nick Bjugstad represented the U.S. for the first time at the U20 World Youth Championship in 2011 and won the bronze medal with the team. In the following year he was back in the squad of the U.S. and was with four goals alongside Charlie Coyle top scorer of the team.

At the World Cup in 2013 in Stockholm and Helsinki Bjugstad was first appointed to the cadre of the Men's National Team and won with the U.S. selection the bronze medal.
