Nome is a municipality in the center of the county of Telemark in Norway. Neighboring municipalities Skien, Sauherad, Bø, Kvitseid and Drangedal. The administrative center of the municipality is Ulefoss. Nome is located on the Telemark Canal, more precisely on Norsjø.

History

Since 1652 the municipality of iron ore has been promoted in the region that created a foundation for Founded in 1657, Cappelen - Ulefoss Jernvaerk, which exists to this day. 1926, the mining of iron ore has been set.

The neo-classical mansion was built in 1802-1807 by Jørgen Henrik Rawert for Niels Aall. He has a U- shaped plan; the banquet hall on the 1st floor was badly damaged by a fire in 1961.
