Nor Cinti is a province in the southwest part of the Bolivian department of Chuquisaca.

Location

The province is one of the ten provinces in the department of Chuquisaca. It is bordered to the north and west by the department of Potosí, to the south by the province of Sud Cinti, on the southeast by the provincial Hernando Siles, and on the east by the province Azurduy.

The province extends approximately between 19 ° 46 'and 20 ° 56' south latitude and 64 ° 16 ' and 65 ° 22 ' west longitude, their extent from west to east up to 115 km, from north to south, also 115 km.

Population

The population of the province of Nor Cinti has risen in the past two decades by about a fifth:

44.8 percent of the population are younger than 15 years, the literacy rate in the province is 55.9 percent. (1992)

63.9 percent of the population speak Spanish, 79.6 percent Quechua, Aymara and 0.5 percent. (1992)

90.4 percent of the population have no access to electricity, 91.4 percent have no sanitary facilities (1992).

91.3 percent of the population are Catholics, 6.9 percent are Protestant (1992).

The Nor Cinti Province is divided into four administrative districts ( bolivian: municipios ):

  • The municipality of Camargo - 15,484 inhabitants ( census 2012)
  • Municipio Incahuasi - 14,412 inhabitants
  • Municipio San Lucas - 32 085 inhabitants
  • The municipality of Villa Charcas - 14,496 inhabitants
