Odřepsy

Odřepsy ( German Odreps, also Odrepes ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located five kilometers east of Poděbrady and belongs to fulltext your real estates.

Geography

Odřepsy is located west of Oškobrh ( Wolfsberg, 285 m) on the left bank of the Sansky kanál on the East Bohemian panel.

Neighboring towns are Okřínek in the north, Srbce and Vlkov pod Oškobrhem in the northeast, Mlýnek and Oškobrh in the east, Opolánky and Opolany the southeast, Kanin and Libice nad Cidlinou in the south, Choťánky the southwest, Vrčení in the west and Pátek and Nové Mlýny in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of lying on an ancient trade between Prague and Silesian village was in 1227 as a possession of the Benedictine Monastery of St.. George at the Prague Castle. 1436 the village came to power Poděbrady and from 1495 it belonged to the rule Kolin.

After the abolition of patrimonial Odřepsy formed in 1850 a municipality in the district Poděbrady. On January 1, 1961, the community came to fulltext your real estates.

In Odřepsy is an archaeological site from Roman times.

Place name

The origin of quirky place-name is thought that the inhabitants of the Middle Ages by traveling through Prague merchants discarded dogs may have been left as work animals.
