Okapi Aalstar is a Belgian basketball club from Aalst.

History

The club was founded in 1949 as Okapi Aalst. From 1994, we started to develop a professional structure and worked with several names sponsors. 2002, however, were the financial reserves of the professional men's team exhausted and the professional game operation was continued as Okapi Aalstar. Now that the telecommunications provider Belgacom (1997-1999) and Alken-Maes brewery served as title sponsor, since 2006, the Belgian branch of Assicurazioni Generali title sponsor.

Okapi plays in the Belgian Basketball League, the Ethias League. There, you play a mean role. The greatest success of the club's history was celebrated after a runner-up in 2011 the following year, 2012, when you could win the Belgian Basketball Cup with the former top scorer of the German Basketball Bundesliga Chris Copeland, who subsequently moved to the New York Knicks in the NBA.

The club also participated several times in the Euro Challenge, where you made ​​it to the last 16 teams 2010/11.
