Olivier Occéan [ ɔliv'je ɔkse'ã ] ( born October 23, 1981 in Brossard, Quebec ) is a Canadian soccer player who plays for 1.FC Kaiserslautern since the 2013/14 season.

Career

Association

Occéan, the son of two Haitian immigrants played between 2001 and 2003 for the U.S. Southern Connecticut State University in Division II of the NCAA and was elected twice to the best selection of All-American. He played during his studies in the USL Premier Development League for Vermont Voltage. After graduation, he was selected the 2004 MLS SuperDraft by the MetroStars from New York. However, the Norwegian football club Odd Grenland 's attention before the season starts the MLS in a test match on Occéan. Finally Occéan was committed by the Norwegians, so that it completed a single competitive game for the MetroStars.

In the Tippeligaen, the first Norwegian Football League, Occéan scored for Odd Grenland in two years, 22 goals in 46 games, which is why he was recruited by the League rival Lillestrøm SK in late 2005 with a five-year contract. Odd Grenland achieved in this case a transfer fee of around one million euros. In his first season at Lillestrøm he first met at all, his first competitive goal was only in the last season game. By 2010, he scored 34 goals in 91 matches.

At the beginning of the 2010/11 season Occéan moved to the German third division side Kickers Offenbach. When OFC he scored 16 goals in 30 games.

During the summer break in 2011 Occéan joined the then second division club SpVgg Greuther Fürth. He signed a three-year contract until 30 June 2014. Fürth For he made his debut in the Bundesliga 2 on 15 July 2011 at the match against Eintracht Frankfurt, where he was in the starting and his strike partner Christopher Nothe hung up a hit. Overall, he came in the 2011/12 season on 33 missions, in which he scored 17 goals and was along with Alexander Meier and Nick Proschwitz scorer in the second division.

For the 2012/13 season Occéan was obliged Eintracht Frankfurt. He signed a three-year contract until 30 June 2015. For 2013/14 season he was awarded for two years at the first FC Kaiserslautern. On July 20, 2013 he made his debut for the FCK on Matchday 1 in the away match against SC Paderborn which FCK won 1-0.

National

2004 Occéan occurred in a friendly against Wales for the first time at the Canadian national soccer team. Two of his hits in the national dress, he scored the 7-0 defeat of Canada 7 October 2011 against St. Lucia.

His name is pronounced usually erroneously as the English word " ocean" in the German media.
