Ömer Toprak ( born July 21, 1989 in Ravensburg ) is a Turkish footballer who plays for Bayer 04 Leverkusen is under contract and is active for the Turkish national team since 2011. Before he went to for several German youth national teams.

Club career

He started in 1994 at the TSB Ravensburg and moved in 2001 to FV Ravensburg.

In 2005, Toprak of Ravensburg moved to the youth academy of SC Freiburg and went through there the junior teams of the SC. 2007 Toprak received a professional contract. In the 2007 /08 season Toprak was with the second team of SC Freiburg league champion and with the A- Junior German Champion. His competitive debut for the first team he was on Matchday 2 of the 2008/09 season against VfL Osnabrück. Since then it has established itself as a regular player and was involved in the rise of the team in the Bundesliga.

On 9 June 2009 Toprak was seriously injured in an accident on a go-kart track near Freiburg, as in a collision with another vehicle blew up a tank. He suffered such severe burns that he had to pause for months and end of his career was threatened. On January 6, 2010 Toprak was in a friendly match against the Spanish second division side FC Elche his comeback. On 16 January 2010, he graduated in the away game of the Freiburg Hamburger SV Bundesliga debut to be. In the 0-2 defeat he came on in the 65th minute.

He joined the 2011/12 season at Bayer Leverkusen, where he received a five-year contract, which he extended in January 2014 to 2018.

National

Toprak was German U-19 national team and participated with the national team at the 2008 U-19 European Championship in the Czech part. Here he scored the interim 2-0 lead against defending champion Spain on his debut in the group stage. With the German selection Toprak was European champion with a 3-1 victory in the final against Italy.

27 September 2011 Toprak applied for Turkish citizenship in order to complete the application for a change of dressing to Türkiye Futbol Federasyonu at the FIFA can. Three days later he was appointed for the first time in the Turkish national team for two European Championship qualifiers against Germany and Azerbaijan. 15 November 2011 Toprak was in the second leg of the playoff qualifiers for Euro 2012 against Croatia in the Maksimir Stadium in Zagreb his senior international debut for Turkey.

Family

Toprak was born as the son of a product originating in Turkey immigrants in Ravensburg in Upper Swabia and raised. Toprak has two older brothers and one older sister. The brother Harun Toprak played at Turkish first division club Sivasspor and in Switzerland for FC Schaffhausen.
