The Ora Township is one of 16 townships in Jackson County in the southwest of the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2010, Ora Township had 514 inhabitants.
Geography
The Ora Township is located approximately 30 kilometers east of the Mississippi River, which forms the border with Missouri. The mouth of the Ohio at the intersection of the states of Illinois, Missouri and Kentucky is located about 120 km south.
The Ora Township is located at 37 ° 55 ' N, 89 ° 26' W37.911111111111 - 89.425277777778 and extends over 95.12 km ².
The Township is located in the north of Jackson County and is bordered to the north Perry County. Within the Jackson County borders the Ora Township on the east by the Vergennes Township, to the southeast by the Somerset Township, on the south by Levan Township, to the southwest by the Kinkaid Township and on the west by Bradley Township.
Traffic
In west-east direction of the Illinois State Route 4 passes through the Ora Township. All other roads are County Roads or more subordinate and partly unpaved roadways.
With the Southern Illinois Airport is located approximately 25 kilometers southeast of Ora Township a regional airport. The nearest major airport is the Lambert -Saint Louis International Airport ( about 145 km north-west ).
