The De Soto Township is one of 16 townships in Jackson County in the southwest of the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2010, the De Soto Township 2388 inhabitants.

Geography

The De Soto Township is located approximately 35 km east of the Mississippi River, which forms the border with Missouri. The mouth of the Ohio at the intersection of the states of Illinois, Missouri and Kentucky is located about 100 km south.

The De Soto Township is located at 37 ° 49'02 " north latitude and 89 ° 13'47 " west longitude and extending over 98.38 km ², spread over 97.22 km ² land and 1.16 km ² water surface. Within the Township of Little Muddy flows into the Big Muddy River, a left tributary of the Mississippi.
