The Pomona Township is the largest area of 16 townships in Jackson County in the southwest of the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2010, the Pomona Township 802 inhabitants.
Geography
The Pomona Township is located about two kilometers east of the Mississippi River, which forms the border with Missouri. The mouth of the Ohio at the intersection of the states of Illinois, Missouri and Kentucky is located about 90 km south.
The Pomona Township is located at 37 ° 39 ' N, 89 ° 21' W37.642222222222 - 89.348055555556 and extends over 136.76 km ², spread over 129.52 km ² land and 7.24 km ² water surface. The township is bounded on the west by the Big Muddy River, a left tributary of the Mississippi. To the east of the township is the Cedar Lake, one incurred by damming of Cedar Creek Reservoir.
