The Murphysboro Township is one of 16 townships in Jackson County in the southwest of the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2010, the Murphysboro Township had 10,563 inhabitants.

Geography

The Murphysboro Township is located approximately 20 km east of the Mississippi River, which forms the border with Missouri. The mouth of the Ohio at the intersection of the states of Illinois, Missouri and Kentucky is located about 100 km south.

The Murphysboro Township is located at 37 ° 44'14 " north latitude and 89 ° 19'34 " west longitude and extending over 96.02 km ².

The Murphysboro Township is located in the southeastern center of Jackson County and is bordered to the north by the Somerset Township, in the northeast on the De Soto Township, on the east by the Carbondale Township, to the southeast by the Makanda Township, on the south by the Pomona Township, to the west at the Sandridge Township and to the northwest by the Levan Township.

Traffic
