The Fountain Bluff Township is one of 16 townships in Jackson County in the southwest of the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2010, the Fountain Bluff Township had 208 inhabitants.
Geography
The Fountain Bluff Township is located on the Mississippi River, which forms the border with Missouri. The mouth of the Ohio at the intersection of the states of Illinois, Missouri and Kentucky is located around 105 km south.
The Fountain Bluff Township is located at 37 ° 45 'N, 89 ° 32' W37.744722222222 - 89.536111111111 and extends over 80.73 km ², spread over 80.73 km ² land and 3.05 km ² water surface.
The Township is located in the west of Jackson County and borders separated by the Mississippi River on the southwest by the Perry County in Missouri. Within the Jackson County, Fountain Bluff Township is bordered to the west and northwest by the Degognia Township, on the north by the Kinkaid Township, in the northeast on the Levan Township, on the east by the Sandridge Township, and to the southeast by the Grand Tower Township.
Traffic
Due to the northeast of the township runs along the Mississippi here the Illinois section of the Great River Road forming Illinois State Route 3 All other roads are County Roads or more subordinate and partly unpaved roadways.
Parallel to the Illinois State Route 3 runs a railway line of the Union Pacific Railroad.
