The Grand Tower Township is one of 16 townships in Jackson County in the southwest of the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2010, the Grand Tower Township had 707 inhabitants.

Geography

The Grand Tower Township lies at the mouth of the Big Muddy River in the Mississippi River, which forms the border with Missouri. The mouth of the Ohio at the intersection of the states of Illinois, Missouri and Kentucky is located around 100 km south.

The Grand Tower Township is located at 37 ° 38 ' N, 89 ° 28' W37.637222222222 - 89.473333333333 and extends over 86.48 km ², spread over 81.72 km ² of land and 4.764 km ² water surface. The township is bounded on the east by the Big Muddy River to its mouth.
