Orcajo

Orcajo is a Spanish municipality ( municipio ) in the comarca of Campo de Daroca in Zaragoza province of Aragon Autonomous Region. The village had 45 inhabitants ( 2013).

Location

Orcajo lies at the foot of the Sierra de Santa Cruz about 85 km south-west of Zaragoza, 250 km northeast of Madrid. To Autovia Mudejar (A 23 ) in the east and it is 12 km away and the Autovia del Nordeste (A 2 ) in the north 25 km away. Neighboring towns are 5 km Daroca in the east, 5 km to the southeast and Valdehorna Manchones and Murero 5 km to the north.

History

The place was called to 1543 Forcajo, after which he was referred to as Horcajo and since 1646 Orcajo. In the 20th century the population declined steadily. In 1910 there were 500 inhabitants, 1950 and 1970 lived 383 110 people in the town. In 1990 there were only about 50 people.
