Paris Métro Line 6

Line 6 of the Paris Métro stations connecting the Charles de Gaulle - Étoile in the west and Nation in eastern Paris. Together with line 2 it forms a ring route.

History

In the original network planning is a ring was provided, which came along the outer boulevards. Later a distinction between North and South Ring Ring. The works here designed the same way as in the northern section of the ring, as well as the design of viaducts and stations was very similar.

On 2 October 1900, the second metro line from Étoile was opened after Trocadéro, at the opening of her name Line 2 ( Sud) and was Circulaire Sud ( South Ring ) called. On November 6, 1903, was extended to Passy, on April 24, 1906 Place d'Italie.

The most noticeable building here is the crossing of the Seine on the 380 meter long bridge Bir -Hakeim, which shared the Ile aux Cygnes ( Swan Island). It consists of different parts: a 114 -meter-long bridge over the main arm of the Seine, the Ile aux Cygnes on the section, a 90 -meter-long bridge over the tributary of the Seine and the two " approach viaducts ."

Since at Place d'Italie two lines ended (2 Sud and 5), was summarized at the October 14, 1907 2 ( Sud) with line 5 under the latter name. On this day, the two North received the designation 2

Further expansion plan was originally to extend the 2 Sud station nation. Since this stretch but not promised a lot of traffic, the opening was delayed until 1 March 1909. The CMP pulled it behind a condition of the traffic contract back, which provided to open the lines in order of the numbers. Thus, you could wait until the opening of line 4, before the traffic on the line 6 ( Place d' Italie - Nation) was added. Here again had to be crossed by a larger bridge the Seine.

As in 1931, held in Paris, the Colonial Exhibition, it was decided to line 5 to Place d'Italie withdraw, and to be served the rest of the line 6. At the end of the exhibition, this was reversed.

When the line was extended 5 from Gare du Nord to the Église de Pantin on 12 October 1942 it was decided that this line finally take back to the Place d' Italie and continue the line 6 on the former portion of the two brew to the Étoile. Between October 1972 and May 1974, the line was converted to 6 Tire drive, 1975 came the automatic train operation.

The line starts at the Place Charles -de- Gaulle, following the Avenue Kléber way to Trocadéro and the Rue Benjamin Franklin further.
