Patrick Biggs

Patrick Biggs ( born October 11, 1982 in Berwick, Australia) is a former Canadian alpine skier. He drove mainly slalom race and reached the World Cup and World Championships, two top- 10 finishes.

Biography

Biggs is the son of an Australian father and a Canadian mother. At the age of five he moved to Ottawa, Canada with his parents of Australia. He drove the first race with six years for the Ottawa Ski Club.

In his first World Cup season 2004/ 05 Biggs reached two tenth places in Chamonix and in the slalom in Wengen. He managed to qualify for the 2005 World Championships in Bormio. There he won the slalom. Thanks fastest time he could still space of 23 ( after the first run ) to increase to ninth place and made with Thomas Grandi (sixth place) and Michael Janyk ( eleventh place) for a good team result.

For its first participation in the Olympic Games, Torino 2006, Biggs was eliminated in the slalom. As a result, he could not build on its previous achievements and failed many times in the World Cup in the qualifying for the second run of the best 30 points gains were mostly the exception. At the 2007 World Championships in Åre, he drove in the slalom turn to ninth place, which he has benefited from failures.

In the Nor- Am Cup, the North American Continental Championship, Biggs counted several years to the best slalom skiers. From the 2004/05 season to the 2009/10 season he was always to be found among the top six of the slalom standings from 2005 /06 to 2007/ 08, he came three times in a row to third place in the slalom standings. At the 2009 World Championships and 2011 Biggs did not participate. At the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010, he started in the giant slalom and was ranked 35th

After knee problems in winter 2011/12 Biggs was in September 2012 his retirement from ski racing known.
