Michael Janyk

Michael Janyk ( born March 22, 1982 in Vancouver, British Columbia) is a former Canadian alpine skier. His strongest discipline was the slalom.

Biography

Janyk, whose older sister Britt Janyk also started in the World Cup, was a slalom skier. Already in his first full season 2004/ 05 he scored several top 15 results. His previous Bestresultat is the second place in the slalom at Beaver Creek in December 2006. 2006/07 season he finished seventh position in the slalom World Cup.

The World Ski Championships 2005 in Bormio Janyk finished in eleventh place in the slalom. In 2006 he gave his debut in Turin at the Olympic Winter Games and drove in Slalom ranked 17th At the 2007 World Championships in Åre, he finished sixth in the slalom.

After two disappointing years with starting numbers beyond the 60 he came in the 2008 /2009 season back on track. The coronation of his comeback succeeded with the bronze medal in the slalom at the 2009 World Championships in Val d'Isere. In the 2009/10 season Janyk reached with six top-10 places to ninth in the slalom World Cup. The slalom of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, he finished 13th in the Super Combined, he finished 26th at the World Championships 2011 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, he remained after a failure in the slalom without result. In the World Cup he was driving in the winter 2010/11 four times into the top five, while he was in the 2011/12 season only twice in the top ten.

In the following two winters 2012/13 and 2013/14 remained ever a 14th place his best World Cup result. His last World Cup race Janyk denied on March 9, 2014 in Kranjska Gora; thereby he reached the 15th place in the slalom.
