Patrick Francis Sheehan

Patrick Francis Sheehan OSA ( born May 28, 1932 in Boyle, Ireland, † November 8, 2012 in Dublin) was Roman Catholic Bishop of Kano in Nigeria.

Life

Patrick Francis Sheehan joined the Congregation of the Augustinian and received on 25 February 1956, the ordination.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on 21 September 1970 Bishop of Yola. The Apostolic Delegate in Nigeria, Amelio Poggi, donated to him on January 6, 1971, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were James Timothy Kieran Cotter OESA, Bishop of Maiduguri, and John Kwao Amuzu Aggey, Archbishop of Lagos. His episcopal motto was Aedificante Gratia Dei.

With elevation of Kano Prefecture Apostolic Vicariate Patrick Francis Sheehan was appointed by Pope John Paul II, Apostolic Vicar of Kano on 5 July 1996. With elevation of the Apostolic Vicariate of the Diocese on 22 June 1999 he was appointed first Bishop of Kano. Sheehan sent a 23 parishes and 2 Kaplanate and the deaneries Kano and Tudun Wada and Dutse.
