Pavel Stolbov

Pawel Afanasievich Stolbow ( born August 30, 1929 in Krasny Luch, † 15 June 2011) was a Soviet artistic gymnast.

Pawel Afanasievich Stolbow launched for CSKA Moscow. His biggest international success was the participation in the Olympic summer games in 1956 by Melbourne. He came in eight disciplines are used. With the Soviet relay team, he won at the side of Victor Chukarin, Yuri Titov, Valentin Muratov, Albert Azaryan and Boris Schachlin the Olympic gold medal. In eventing competition, he was as the worst Soviet Starter 14, 16 on the ground, jumping 28, 41 on the parallel bars, high bar, together with Chukarin fourth and finished 12th on the rings as well as seventh on pommel horse. at the World Gymnastics Championships 1958 at the Moscow native won Stolbow on bars behind Schachlin and Takashi Ono bronze, on pommel horse he was behind Schachlin second. In Prague, he successfully participated in the World Gymnastics Championships in 1962. On stretching, he won the bronze medal behind Ono and Yukio Endō. At the European Championships 1959 in Copenhagen, he won the title on high bar.
