Krasnyi Luch

Krasny Luch (Ukrainian Красний Луч; Russian Красный Луч / Krasny Luch, literally about " Red lights rays " ) is a city in the Luhansk Oblast in eastern Ukraine. Located on the Mius, in the center of the Donets Basin city has about 80,000 inhabitants (2012 ).

History

The city was founded as Krindachjowka the early 1920s and is named Krasny Luch since 1929.

In the city the POW camp consisted of 256 German prisoners of war of World War II.

Economy and infrastructure

Krasny Luch is dominated by coal. The city is also a center of engineering and site of a meat combine.

There is a railway connection to the railway line Debalzewe - Zverevo.
