Molodohvardiysk

Molodohwardijsk (Ukrainian Молодогвардійськ; Russian Молодогвардейск / Molodogwardeisk ) is a city located in the Donets Basin in the Luhansk Oblast in eastern Ukraine.

The city, whose main industry is coal mining, has 23,170 inhabitants ( 2013).

The city was founded in 1954 after the resistance group "Young Guard" ( Молода гвардія ) named, whose work was described by the Soviet writer Alexander Fadeev in the novel. In 1961 she was awarded the status of a city.

Geography

Molodohwardijsk located 38 km southeast of the Oblastzentrum Lugansk and administratively belongs to Krasnodon, which is a south-easterly direction to reach on the highway 5 km. Together with the village Nowosimejkine (Ukrainian Новосімейкіне ), which belongs to the metropolitan area, the city has an area of 3.25 km ².
