Petrovske

Petrowske (Ukrainian Петровське; Russian Петровское / Petrowskoje ) is a small town in the Luhansk Oblast in eastern Ukraine. It has about 13,000 inhabitants and belongs administratively to the town of Krasny Luch. At the city council community also include the urban-type settlement Fedoriwka and 2 settlements Butkewytsch ( Буткевич ) and Werhuliwkske ( Вергулівське ) and the village Woskresseniwka ( Воскресенівка ).

Geography

The city in eastern Ukraine is located about 45 kilometers southwest of the Oblasthauptstadt Luhansk Luhansk oblast.

History

The city's history begins in the 1770s, in 1790 the place is mentioned as Petrowo - Krasnoselje ( Петрово - Красноселье ) documented. The economic development of the city is dominated by the chemical industry, 1896 a chemical plant is opened in place, the operator is a Russian - French company. 1938 Petrowske is appointed to a urban-type settlement, during the 2nd World War it was occupied by Germany and relocated the chemical plants in the East. On 2 September 1943, the city was retaken by the Red Army, 1944, the Soviet Union decided to rebuild the factory. In 1963 the site of the city status is conferred.
