Pawłowice, Gliwice County

Pawłowice ( German: Pawlowitz ) is a town in Upper Silesia in the Toszek ( Tost ) powiat in Gliwice in Silesian Voivodeship in Poland.

Geography

Pawłowice is located three kilometers west of the parish seat Toszek, 23 kilometers northwest of the county town of Gliwice ( Gleiwitz ) and 43 kilometers northwest of the voivodship Katowice.

Neighboring towns of Pawłowice in the West Ligota Toszecka ( Ellguth - Tost ), in the north Płużniczka (small Pluschnitz ) and to the east Toszek ( Tost ).

History

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 voted 57 voters to remain in Germany and 40 for Poland. Pawlowitz remained with the German Reich. 1933 lived 162 inhabitants in the village. On 12 February 1936, the site was renamed Paul Mayrhofen. 1939, the place had 186 inhabitants. By 1945, the place was in the district of Tost - Gleiwitz.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Pawłowice and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, the city came to Katowice Voivodeship. In 1999 the place to re-founded powiat Gliwice and the new Silesian Voivodeship.
